The Artist Manager
There comes a time in an artist’s career when he needs to have a manager. Although there are many people in the industry more than happy to manage an artist, not all of them understand what their job IS. One of the first things to seeking a manager is to find one that fits YOUR goals. An artist manager does not run your life. They work for you, the artist. There should be an agreement as to what you expect from the manager and what the manager requests of you to help him reach YOUR goals.
Don’t get blinded by fancy name dropping and 1,000 pictures of them with “famous” people. That doesn’t prove a thing. It just means that they know all the right names to drop and how to get a picture with famous people… who cares. Make sure that the manager YOU choose understands YOUR needs and has the ability and knowledge to help you reach YOUR goals.
